Hunting at Elk Haven Colorado
Elk hunting in Colorado’s White River National Forest is unmatched. It is one of the crown jewels of our nation’s public land system. It holds the world’s largest migrating elk herd. There are 2,500 miles of trails and 1,900 miles of forest service system roads to help get you to your hunting destination.
Elk Haven is a “do it yourself” hunting lodge located 10 minutes from Meeker in game management unit 23. Elk Haven is not an outfitting or guide service. If you are seeking a guided hunt please refer to the Meeker Chamber of Commerce business directory.
The White River National Forest is literally in our backyard. You can take your atv on our trail and connect with a maintained forest service trail in a matter of minutes. This is one of many appealing qualities of Elk Haven Lodge to hunters, snowmobilers and adventurists.

Game Processing Facilities
For those joining us during the Colorado big game hunting seasons, there is a game processing facility for your use. This facility is equipped with a huge walk-in cooler, chest freezer(s), poly-topped table area for processing game, and a large commercial sink to aid in clean-up after processing. Please plan to bring your own knives for processing game and any/all wrapping supplies for packaging the meat. Again, the use of this facility is a benefit to all of our hunters.
Colorado Hunting Seasons
The season usually begins at the end of August for Archery. Black Powder starts in mid-September, and the Rifle seasons start in early October (please see Colorado State regulations for exact dates).
